Funds raised contribute to the operation of the Parish of Magill and its various ministries; in recent times much of the money raised has been used to fund the employment of Parish children and youth development ministries.
The Jumble Mart came about, however, when the Parish Council undertook to investigate the financing of a new hall building complex. As a result, the monthly Mart was organised to provide a regular source of income for this project.
The first Mart was held on Friday 4th July 1975 in 2 small rooms of the cottage next to the crumbling old Parish hall – it raised a pleasing $107 on its first day.
February 1977 was the day when the Mart was held in the new Church Hall on St Bernards Road it had helped to raise finances for. It has continued at that location without a break and has become a well established and popular part of the church and ministry to the local community.
Yes! Around 50 people enjoy friendship and fellowship as they set up and operate the Mart. Anyone and everyone are welcome to come and join.
